Welcome It's fall! While golden elm trees and autumn leaves surround us, so does the spirit of learning, reading and books! Come and experience one of Southern Alberta's largest outdoor festivals woven around amazing author readings, live music performances, a bustling marketplace and fun activities for the whole family. This is the 9th year that the Lethbridge Public Library is hosting The Word On The Street festival. We're happy to take part in celebrating the Library's 100th anniversary with a special musical guest, Fred Penner, and other activities throughout the year. Along with all of the other sponsors and community partners, we are proud to provide an opportunity for members of our community to connect with reading and literacy in a fun and active way that showcases Canadian authors and other local talent to highlight the Festival's theme: "Advocating literacy and celebrating reading." Land Acknowledgement Statement The Lethbridge Public Library acknowledges that we are gathered on the lands of the Blackfoot people of the Canadian Plains and pays respect to the Blackfoot people past, present and future while recognizing and respecting their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship to the land. The City of Lethbridge is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. Accessibility Information Accessible, all-gender bathrooms are available inside the library in the Children's Department and upper south wing. All outdoor festival bathrooms are all- gender single use. The sensory story time basket will be available in the Children's Department for story time programs in Kids' Corner. If you wish to borrow the wiggle cushions, lap pads, or noise-cancelling headphones for use in the outdoor Kids' Zone tent, please ask at the Children's Department desk. Live closed captioning (CART) and sign language interpretation will be available for some events. Please check the website and schedule for details and updates. If you would like to request sign language interpretation for a particular author or event, let us know at word@lethlib.ca and we'll do our best to accommodate.
