13 • Staff in Children's Services created Sensory Storytime, a storytime for kids with developmental differences. This coincided with the launch of our sensory baskets and sensory kits – adaptive items that parents and children can use in the Library or check out to assist their children with sensory issues. • Lethbridge Public Library was an active member in the development in the Play Charter for Lethbridge. The Lethbridge Play Charter is a unifying document that outlines why play is important and how, by working together, we can create a community that supports and encourages comprehensive play opportunities for all Lethbridge children and youth. Lethbridge City Council unanimously voted in favour of adopting the Lethbridge Play Charter in October 2018. Participants in early literacy programs at the Library overwhelmingly report that the programs have made a difference in their lives as a caregiver, mainly because it gives them an opportunity to socialize their children and interact with others. (2018 survey results) Library program participants tell us that participating in Library activities makes them aware of other events in our community and about the issues going on in other parts of the world. (2018 survey results) As a result of coming to early literacy programs, participants report that they use the knowledge they gain and interact with their children at home more because of the songs and stories they learn at our programs.
