Special Events Ready, Set, Read! MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS 10:00—11:00 am | July 4—August 8 | Kids' Corner (Main Branch) TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS 10:00—11:00 am | July 3—August 9 | Friends Place (The Crossings Branch) *No program on Monday August 6. Ready, Set, Read! gives children who can read and have attended Kindergarten up to Grade 3 the opportunity to read with a Volunteer who has attended Grade 4 up to Grade 12. The Reader and Volunteer share 40 minutes of reading time, with the last 20 minutes spent in a fun group activity. WANTED: Youth volunteers If you have completed any grades from Grades 4—12, enjoy reading with younger children, and would like to spend quality time at the library, then this volunteer position is for you! You choose your schedule and work as many days as you would like. Readers If you have just completed kindergarten, Grades 1, 2, or 3, can read, and want to keep reading over the summer then this program is for you! Join us for as many days as you like; you choose your own schedule. Register at lethlib.ca. Participants are welcome to register for both locations. Ready, Set, Read! is not suitable for children with learning/reading disabilities. All participants must be mature enough to attend without adult accompaniment. TD Summer Reading Club July 3—August 31 Participate at the Main Branch, The Crossings Branch, and the Bookmobile! It's time for the TD Summer Reading Club! Youth of all ages can participate in the self-directed TD Summer Reading Club at any location. For every book read by themselves or with an adult, come to the library and, after they answer a randomized question about the story, they receive a small prize. Afterwards, they can put the title on the 'Wall of Words' and watch the wall grow! Prizes change each week throughout the summer. THURSDAY July 19 Puppet Show: 10:00—10:30 (Main Branch) SATURDAY July 21 Small 'n TALL: 10:00—10:30 (The Crossings Branch) Join us as Pamela McDowell, a Calgary author, shares all she knows about bats and reads from her newest book 'Bats in Trouble', which is set just outside of Pincher Creek. It was inspired by the conflict between bats and wind turbines. Suitable for children of all ages. NEW! A Sensory Basket will be available for use during all children's programs at the Main Branch. It includes weighted lap pads, fidget toys and noise cancelling headphones. For in-house use only.
